Definition
Security training: Training that gives the people who protect a site, and the people who work in it, the knowledge and practised routines to prevent, detect and respond to security incidents. It ranges from awareness for all staff to role-specific competence for security managers, supervisors and control-room operators.
Who is security training for?
Three groups, each with a different programme. In-house security teams and managers need capacity building: risk-based patrol and post planning, access-control and visitor procedures, incident reporting, investigation basics and supervising a guarding contractor. Supervisors and control-room operators need role-specific drills: alarm and CCTV response, escalation, and evidence handling. All staff need security awareness: tailgating, social engineering, cash and document handling, and what to do in a robbery or intrusion. S.G. Technologies has built security-team capacity for Consolidated Bank Ghana and delivered security and safety training for Enterprise Insurance staff in Ghana, Nigeria and The Gambia.
Why build training from a risk assessment?
Generic courses teach a syllabus. S.G. Technologies teaches against your premises and your findings. Awareness sessions use the incidents and near-misses in your own risk assessment and vulnerability register. Procedure training uses your actual entry points, post orders and reporting forms. Exercises follow the scenarios your sites realistically face. That is why training sits in phases 2 and 3 of the S.G. Technologies methodology, after assessment and alongside implementation. People are trained to operate the controls that were designed for them.
What does social-engineering and insider-risk training cover?
Most successful intrusions start with a person, not a lock. Staff are trained to recognise pretexting at reception and on the phone, tailgating through controlled doors, impersonation of contractors or officials, and requests that bypass normal approvals. Managers learn the warning signs of insider risk and how to report them without accusation. See why social engineering is a physical security problem.
How is security training delivered and evidenced?
On-site at your premises in Accra, Tema, Kumasi or elsewhere in Ghana, or at a venue you choose, in sessions sized to keep operations running. Multi-site organisations can use a train-the-trainer model. Each programme ends with attendance registers, competence assessments, certificates and a refresher schedule, the records an auditor, insurer or head office will ask for. Refresher training continues under ongoing management if you retain S.G. Technologies.
Who delivers the training?
Senior practitioners, not trainers reading slides. S.G. Technologies' consultants hold the CPP, PSP and PCI certifications from ASIS International. Its lead consultant lectures at the Ghana Armed Forces Command & Staff College and Accra Technical University. The team also includes a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police and a World Bank Group security specialist.
