Construction & Infrastructure Security in Ghana
Construction and infrastructure security has two halves: protecting a live construction site — its materials, plant and workforce — and designing security into the finished asset from the drawing board. S.G. Technologies provides both across Ghana, having served as security consultants on major commercial construction projects and worked with developers, utilities and industrial operators since 2008.

Definition
Construction security consulting: Professional oversight of security across a project's life: site protection during works (perimeter, access control for workers and vehicles, materials management, night security) and security-by-design for the completed building — so systems are engineered in, not retrofitted.
Why do construction sites in Ghana need a security plan?
Construction sites concentrate exactly what theft targets: cement, rebar, cable, fuel, tools and plant, moved by a workforce that changes daily. Losses are routinely absorbed as 'shrinkage' when they are preventable with basics done properly — a controlled perimeter and single vehicle gate, identity-checked worker access, materials issued against records, lighting and CCTV on laydown areas, and clear guard-force procedures with night supervision. S.G. Technologies designs this regime, specifies it to the contractor, and audits that it is actually operating.
What is security-by-design for a new building?
Decisions taken at design stage — site layout, entrances, parking, service yards, lobby configuration, riser and containment routes — fix the building's security ceiling for decades, and retrofitting costs multiples of doing it right the first time. Working alongside the architect and MEP engineers, S.G. Technologies embeds CPTED principles into the layout and produces the security systems design (CCTV, access control, intrusion, fire and EVACS integration) as part of the construction documentation. The firm served as security consultants for the construction of Advantage Place, a major commercial building in Accra, and its wider project delivery practice covers project management and MEP benchmarking.
What about critical infrastructure?
Utilities, energy and industrial assets face a different threat profile: not just theft but sabotage, encroachment and operational disruption with public consequences. S.G. Technologies' client record includes the Volta River Authority and industrial operators such as VALCO and Wilmar Africa. Infrastructure engagements combine perimeter and access engineering, surveillance design, incident response planning and guard-force capability building, benchmarked against ISO 31000 and sector standards.
How does an engagement run?
For a live site: a security survey of the site and its surroundings, a site security plan the contractor is contractually held to, and periodic audits through the works. For a new build: security design deliverables aligned to each design stage, tender review, and witnessing of installation, testing and commissioning — so the building opens with its security proven, documented and handed over.
